16th C. Portuguese 28s #1 - WIP 16h 30m

Hi All,

My apologies that there wasn't an update yesterday, after painting I was really busy & it was time for bed by the time I realised I hadn't made the update.

That being said, here's whats been done in the last couple of days. The following base coats have been added, Skin, blonde hair & light brown leather. Adding the skin has definitely brought the minis to life!

Well folks that's it for me this year, I'm starting my Christmas break as of tomorrow. Those of you who know me well, will know that I've had a mixed year, especially with my health & I'm really looking forward to a break. I plan to get a little sculpting done (my new hobby), I'm currently working on some 15mm green skins. I may even get another video out. I'm also looking forward to some family time.

I hope you all have an amazing Christmas time & New Years! I will continue work on these Portuguese in the new year.

16th C. Portuguese 28s #1 - WIP 10h 0m

Hi All,

Only managed less than three hours today, thanks to a planned hospital appt. In that time I've added base coats of brown leather & dark grey cloth. As I will be using several leather & cloth tones, these colours were added randomly.

16th C. Portuguese 28s #1 - WIP 6h 0m

Hi All,

I started work today on the Portuguese by cleaning up the legs & any missed areas (undercoat) with black. All the steel metal areas were painted & the minis with black hair was painted Luftwaffe Uniform WWII. I'm roughly splitting the hair colour in the group in half, with the other half dark brown.

My initial aims are to block paint all the areas that will be washed black first. These can then be washed together, before moving onto a group of colours to be washed brown & so on.

16th C. Portuguese 28s #1 - WIP 2h 45m

Hi All,

I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was mixed; on the downside I tried vertigo for most of Friday evening & Saturday. Its a bit like being drunk, without the drink or euphoria. I don't recommend it. On the positive side I rediscovered my passion for miniature sculpting. Thanks in large part to Tom Mason's fantastic YouTube channel, with lots of great tutorial vids. If that's something that 'floats your boat' you can find them HERE! I've already started on a 15mm Ork & I see this as a great hobby, replacing painting miniatures (which is now work)!

Speaking of which, today I've got all the Portuguese undercoated (twice) & the bases basecoated with the airbrush. I've also dry brushed the base tops with a couple of brown tones. I would normally do the bases last but I thought, as they are an important part of the overall look/feel of the minis & airbrushing is quicker, I'd get them done first.

In-between coats (drying-time) I created some flock tufts with my Flockbox. These will add a little more colour/interest to the bases & will be added once the painting is completed.

16th C. Portuguese 28s #1 - Prep

Hi All,

Today I started my prep work on my next project - 16th C. Portuguese 28s #1! These minis are fantastic sculpts from Eureka miniatures & I'm really looking forward to getting my brush on them. They will be painted to my 'Tabletop Plus' level, so for the most part a bases coat/wash/highlight.

So far I have cleaned up the minis, glued on weapons/bases & apples sand with PVA. I've also created a painting guide (after some research). All being well I will start painting these next week.
