Croak Raiders Unit 28s - Tabletop Plus '25' Services Pics/Video Day 4

Hi All,

Today I finished all the units bases, which also completed the last of the Tabletop level Croakers (see first two pics below). I continued with the remaining six Croakers, highlighting all colours of their skin (this done whilst capturing on camera for later YouTube vid).

Croak Raiders Unit 28s - Tabletop Plus '25' Services Pics/Video Day 3

Hi All,

Its been a productive day today with the remaining unit of Croakers to be painted all at my basic (Tabletop 25) level. There are four sculpts types in this ten Croaker unit, one being a unique leader,  plus three of the other three non-leader sculpts. I plan to paint one of each of the non-leader sculpts to each of my three Tabletop levels & the leader to my highest Zenithal level.

On the pics below you can see the single Croaker, he's the final Tabletop level. The second group will be Tabletop Plus & the final group High Tabletop Plus.

I've got video footage of a Tabletop Croaker (the one on my website) being painted from start to finish. I plan to video the painting of the other two Tabletop levels from the point were the last level left off. This should show the progression of detail through the levels. I'll also video from start to finish the Zenithal level painted Croaker, as this follows a more detailed approach.

Croak Raiders Unit 28s - Tabletop Plus '25' Services Pics/Video

Hi All,

After a long weekend without much rest & half of today shopping/housework, I eased into a short days painting.

About a month ago I started a this Croak Raiders project (completing a mini to my Tabletop '25' level), the aim to not only paint the commission minis but also use them to showcase my various commission painting levels (including a video) & highlight the new Warcolours Paints i'm using. As of today this project is back on track, will remain the focus of my work until it & several other hordes minis are completed.

My primary focus at the moment to complete the Tabletop Plus '25' level mini. The pics below include this mini as well as a couple of his horde who will feature at a later date.

'Studio-Time' Launched!

Hi All,

Today I've launched a new playlist on my YouTube channel, 'Studio-Time'! Essentially this will contain vids documenting my commission work from start to finish (uploaded upon completion). So long as the feedback is positive I will continue to do this for all my work. Ive uploaded an intro video & episode 1 (in 2 parts). In Ep.1 I paint five 28mm scratch built mutants, with purple skin, rusty weapons & plenty of gore! Please watch (using links below) & give me some feedback.

Inquisitorial Gang #2 Completed 25h 0m

Hi All,

The mutants are finished! Yes, today I finished the remaining colours including the gory looking blood effects. I'm really pleased with the end result. I will proudly add these to the gallery of my website. I also have a lot of video editing to complete to show how these guys were painted, I'll keep you posted on that. Tomorrow i'm having a well earned rest (at least from painting).

Inquisitorial Gang #2 WIP 21h 30m

Hi All,

A long day today, with much achieved! Mostly the metalwork completed today, involving the lengthy process of adding rust (in three layers), verdigris (the blue/green stuff) & smoke (at the end of gun barrels). I also managed to highlight one of the clothing colours. All being well the rest of the highlights will follow tomorrow. For now, I need a good rest.

Inquisitorial Gang #2 WIP 16h 0m

Hi All,

Slightly earlier finish today, I have a few games of X-Wing lined up with a friend (uncommon treat for me, gaming).

Painting went as planned today, in fact I started my day with planning all the colours I'm using on these minis along with the areas to paint them on. I then added the brown wash to all the work I completed yesterday. Once this was dry, all the remaining base colours were added (the plan making this process faster than usual). I then added a black wash to everything but the skin (including those areas already wash with brown). I'm now ready to start adding some rust & then the highlights.

Inquisitorial Gang #2 WIP 12h 20m

Hi All,

After a busy weekend editing vids for my Youtube channel (see previous post), today I was back painting the Mutants. There's been a slight change in direction by the customer, instead of a uniform gang, all members are to have an individual look. This means that I can mix it up a little & add in a few more colours. As I was working on the metallic areas, I remembered painting a similar unit of Orks some years ago which used a mixed clothing/equipment scheme. After some rummaging around my electronic painting file I found the guide & decided to use a large part of it for these mutants. The Orks had various coloured clothing & rusted weapons which is ideal for this project.

I therefore concentrated my efforts on getting all the colours I needed painting prior to a brown wash. My guide has these colours being washed first with the brown & later with a black wash, the finished result is dark/grimy/dirty, ideal for mutants.

Inquisitorial Gang #2 WIP 8h 0m

Hi All,

Back to work on the mutant gang today & I wanted to complete the mutant parts (skin, eyes, teeth etc) which I achieved. I also completing my least favourite task of cleaning-up with black. This has left the minis looking very, well, clean! Ready for the next step which will be to paint all the metal areas, of which there is a lot! More on this next week. Have a great weekend!

African Army 15s - Completed 22h 0m, African Militia Completed, Inquisitorial Gang #2 WIP 4h 30m

Hi All,

My day started with finishing the basing for the 15mm Africans (Army/Militia) by adding some flock tufts, which adds a little more interest/life to the overall look.

After a positive but ultimately groaning visit to the dieticians (less cheese/chocolate/take-away), I set to work on the mutants. Skin tones on larger minis take time, as you need to build the layers to ensure that you get a smooth, almost transparent finish. After a few hours I feel that I have achieved this, at least with this initial highlight. One further highlight tomorrow & the skin should be ready. I can then set to work on the clothing.
