LoA 10s #3 - Irish Lesser Infantry & Guns - WIP 6h 30m

Hi All,

Today's been a colourful one, with many of the pastel shades being added to the levy/raw infantry. I started out with the Heavy Sienna(VGC) on all the muskets, poll arms etc. Next all the white and lace was painted Heavy Bluegrey(VGC). Then the blue/grey, beige and pinks were added and highlighted. All these extra random colours should all help to emphasise the look of rabble.

LoA 10s #3 - Irish Lesser Infantry & Guns - WIP 3h 00m

Hi All,

I completed the initial airbrushing of the 'lesser' Irish infantry today. This included a black undercoat, basecoat, then highlight colours and finally base painting.

These troop are divided into two main groups - the raw recruits and levy/rabble.

Following my customer's request on colour choices, the raw recruits are to have red or white coats with muted tones for their remaining clothing. The levy/rabble to have various pastel shades for their coats with muted colours for their other clothes.

The results so far from airbrushing the main coat colours (see pics below). From top to bottom blue/grey/off white, light blue, beige, pink/grey, red, mustard and light green.

The final base painting was a customer request, basing over vibrant colours can be problematic, so there now brown. A happy result of airbrushing the bases is that overspray creates a muddy effect on the coats. This can be see in the last (extreme close-up) pic. Maybe not noticeable in the grand scheme of things on the tabletop, but I like it all the same.

LoA 10s #3 - Irish Lesser Infantry & Guns - Prep

Hi All,

Not a great deal done today. Ive got the Irish raw recruits, levy/rabble & a couple of guns/crews prepped for painting. Im calling these infantry the 'lesser infantry' as they would have been a lower quality of troop type. I did consider painting all the Irish infantry together however, the regular infantry amounts to an extra sixteen regiments(those in the bag, see pic below). Not only that but they are in a plethora of colours. So Ive narrowed things down a little & will attack the 'lesser infantry' & the guns first.

LoA 10s #3 - Irish Cavalry - WIP 11h 45m

Hi All,

Today I worked with Heavy Brown on all the light leather and highlighting the wood.

I also bought a new piece of equipment(which Ive been after for some time) in Lidl which was reduced. This LED light bar is ideal(with a little filtering) for lighting minis from the front. See pic below.

LoA 10s #3 - Irish Cavalry - WIP 5h 0m

Hi All, I hope you've all had a great Easter!

Today I've been back to work on the LoA Irish cavalry.

Ive completed all the initial airbrushing, giving the horses their basecoats and highlights. Ive also managed to re-paint the remaining parts of the minis black, which will provide a great basis for the main colours. The black is applied as a thick wash, which allows the highlights to show from underneath. Any black areas are therefore easily highlighted and non-black areas can be painted with the black left in the gaps for some extreme shading.
