Bavarian 9YW 10s #1 - Day 2

Although not a full day on these minis It has been productive, the infantry are almost completed; just needing to be blacklined and have their lace highlighted. As with any new commission there is always a little bit of work put into getting the most effective method for completing the minis. I have made several changes to my initial painting guide, but feel I now have a solid approach. I just have one more thing to try with the blacklining, which I will do on some of my own minis before using on these Bavarians.

Here's what I completed today:
Painted the blonde hair(option), cartridge pouch, belts, drum skins, highlight the brown hair, flagpoles, pikes, drumsticks & spears with a slightly thinned coat of Heavy Brown(VGC)
Highlighted the cartridge pouch and belts with a slightly thinned coat of Buff(VMC)
Highlighted the blonde hair with an unthinned coat of Bonewhite(VGC)
Highlighted the 12 apostles & muskets with an unthinned Overbrush of Zandri Dust(C)
Painted the black areas (hat, hair(option), scabbard(inc. hilt), boots, gun barrels, sword blades &  spear/pike tips), blackline the cuffs/lace with a coat of Black
Highlighted the black areas with a coat of Dark Grey(VMC)
Re-painted the gun barrels, sword blades, spear tips and any silver lace/gorgets with a coat of Chainmail Silver(VGC)
Re-painted the sword hilts, scabbard tips and any gold lace/gorgets with a coat of Glorious Gold(VGC)
Highlighted the skin with a slightly thinned coat of Flat Flesh(VMC)

  1. Great stuff mate. I really like the colours of the uniform on these guys.

  2. Thanks Simon, totally agree with you! Bavarian light blue has always been one of my favourite uniform colours.
