Freeborn Vardanari 28mm Squads - Beyond the Gates of Antares

Hi All,

This week I completed the second part of the Freeborn Combat Force project, two squads (minus drones) of Vardanari.

Again I had to battle against a heat wave, really unusual weather at the moment (right now its raining, lol).

15mm Irregular Mercs - Ground Zero Games

Hi All,

I completed this 15mm Irregular Mercs commission yesterday. Consisting of 15 Ground Zero Games minis (one of the main reasons I took the work, I love their minis). I have to admit though, I'm not sure what range(s) these are from. My customer plans to use them as 'space commies' (with a united blue armband. He requested that I use 70s/Star Wars rebel styling for the colour scheme & suggested several colours to use across the project (inc. cream helmets, black visors/weapons/boots). My customer will be completing the bases himself to match his current minis.
Overall were both very happy with the results.

10mm Seven Years War, Swedes - Pendraken

Hi All,

This week I've completed a selection of Swedish SYW units. These include infantry regiments Upplands, Södermanlands & Varvade (two of each); plus a Västgöta regiment of horse.

I really enjoyed their uniform colours, the blues & yellows working together so well. Because all the uniforms are so similar I chose to batch paint them all together, saving about two days working time.

I also got the opportunity to try out some of the new 'One Coat' Warcolours paints. These are highly pigmented, extra opaque paints & work fantastically well straight from the bottle. The yellow, black & white colours really impressed me & I intend to use them a lot more in future. If you want to give them a try, please visit my website's ABOUT page, where I can link you to Warcolours & earn commission from any of your purchases.

One last note, on the way I'm now preparing the minis for painting. I've always used large sticks/tongue depressors to attach the minis to for painting, I do this with double sided tape. These were then attached to corks (weighted with a coin) with poster tack, which would sometimes become detached. I've started to resin glue the sticks to the corks (for a solid hold) & I've cut the corks in half. The half corks are more stable & easier to manipulate, again speeding up the painting process.

Freeborn Domari 28mm Squads - Beyond the Gates of Antares

Hi All,

Having fought against the local heat wave this week I've completed my first two squads (Domari) for the Freeborn Combat Force.

I aim to complete a couple of squad about each month until completed (working around my current work).

10mm Seven Years War, French Dragoons - Pendraken

Hi All,

Here's the latest in a growing number of 10mm Pendraken minis I've painted (must be over 3000 now). I have to say a big thank you to Pendraken, not only do they make fantastic minis, there service is also spot on.

These are French dragoons (foot & mounted) from regiments 2 & 12, which Ive pictured on a temporary base (my customer bases themselves). I jokingly refer to the 12th as the Rastafarians, due to their uniform colours (especially that hat, lol).

10mm Seven Years War, Various - Pendraken

Hi All,

This is the second batch of 10mm minis (first batch completed last week). Previously I titled these League of Augsburg minis, when in fact their SYW. My customer is however using earlier uniforms colours (hence the mix up).

In this latest batch we have Bayreuth Prussian Dragoons, Bla Swedish Hussars, Deutschmeister Austrian Infantry, Nadasdy Austrian Hussars, Napoles Spanish Grenadiers & Ruesch Prussian Hussars. All are painted to my basic 'Bronze' level.
